PETE MORAITES. "TWITTERPATION".
MUSIC VIDEO. |
An excerpt from Pete Moraites.com: "This piece began with my long time fascination with sign language and led me to begin learning ASL.
“The intention was to make poetry with hands, by exploring the ideas of hypnotic poetry or poetic hypnosis, and by using the hands as fluid dancing forms… in those bits the poetry of hands resembles ASL like ee cummings poetry resembles a dictionary… they use the same forms and structures.”

MUSIC VIDEO |
“Learning Curve”
(3:10 / QuickTime / 2003)
Director: Pete Moraites
Music: Salvador
Dalek (Eric Scott
/ Pete Moraites)
Take a journey with suspended expectations and definitions.
Vistas, both new and familiar, take on magical properties. Cosmic
forces play their game of balance on a black and white game grid.
A magician's music reveals older worlds within the walls of the
labyrinth. Giant roadside faith magnet shatters, releasing dynamic
expressions of energetic creation.
This is how we see the world in a new light.

DAY 018 : FOUND: LISTEN
COMPACT DISC |
“Listen”
(Day 018) is the first installment of musique concrète
of the Found
series. Originating as a library of rejected snips from the multimedia
audio design process, these ten themed pieces (Flutters, Bodily
Noises, Voices, Percussive Rhythms, etc.) also form the basis for
much of the audio design in Day For Night's commissioned work, and
installations by Found.
The multi-user soundspace at NIGHTlinkRail Station 018,
comprises ten reactive environments and sound toys, admitting one
or more users and allowing each to respond to a 360° space and
interact with experimental and unusual audiovisual sensors and lighting.
This installation opens early 2004. Quicktime Streaming audio available at bottom. >>

RHYTHM FACTORY “SUCK.” DAY 024
COMPACT DISC |
“Suck”
(Day 024) evolved quickly – beyond the companion
EP to “Push” it was intended to be – into a proper
album on its own.
A further exploration into breakbeat junglism, Rhythm
Factory’s ten new tracks are fueled by the darker
D'n'B counterpanes of “Zikcfukc (Livin Large),” “Zaouk
(Patropolis),” and “Zuq (Itch To Scratch)”–
while anthemic basslines and guitars draw blood during housier excursion
"262111 (Clubsexy)." Quicktime Streaming audio available at bottom. >>

RHYTHM FACTORY “PUSH.” DAY 022
COMPACT DISC |
“Push”
(Day 022) shows Rhythm
Factory as a shadow of its former self, in this long-awaited
reinvention, ditching its identity as protagonist of “journey
musics,” and immersing itself deeper into a progressive, dream-house
bath.
Featuring chiming lead lines and pounding anthems (“Panic,”
“Pearl”) and fusing strains of world-indie (“Prawn,”
“Psalm”), Push’s 16 tracks are an upbeat –
but introspective – new offering. Quicktime Streaming audio available at bottom.

PEOPLE IN PROGRESS.ORG
SITEWORK |
The People In Progress
sitework launched Labor Day 2002 – a completely new look for
this Los Angeles-based non-profit organization. Inspired by the
success stories related from the men and women recovering from substance
abuse and alchohol addiction under this program, Eric
Scott explains how he created 4 original short films
and designed the new Flash-based site, in cooperation with KaChing,
LLC. "It was critical that we convey the warmth of
this organization, in our theme Hope, from No Hope. Everyone
who works there also has completed the program – from the
guy at the top to the guys working in the kitchen – each has
arrived at their front door in a place of spiritual bankruptcy and
hopelessness. At the moment they have 84 beds, and with better funding,
they can provide even more support.” View the
