The 80s
In the 80s – and through much of the musically-desperate early 90's – my life had been entirely songs (What I now classified as the 'archival works'), which was the stuff that flowed out of indie pop influences (Factory, Crepuscule, new-wave) and World Indie (Crammed, Made To Measure, Em:t).
Now was the time to sample the 80s. Hurrah, why just wish and wait for the sensibilities of the 80s to return, when you can just allude to them by re-appropriating them as part of your ironic statement on the new millennium? Brilliant!
