1992_0830 : How Could You Do It
“How Could You Do It” was the reference title to the song I wrote on August 30, 1992, on the afternoon before a first date with D. I wanted to have something to play for her when my date got there, and the song had been suggested by the melody for this lyric, which I then hoped might evolve into something slightly more positive-sounding.
I remember programming the entire thing in two hours, working at the speed of a man possessed. When she arrived at my house, I remember her reaction being one of quite positive surprise. “This would be a good dancefloor tune,” she had suggested. “Great,” I said, “so I won’t throw this one away.”
